San Giuliano Bridge

A single-span Corten steel arch bridge located along the SS 640 “Writers’ Road” in Sicily, connecting Agrigento and Caltanissetta. It is part of the project to upgrade the motorway section to four lanes, reducing travel times on a key stretch for Sicily.

The steel deck consists of two double-T-section chain girders with inclined webs of a constant height of 3 m, double-T-section cross-members, and two inclined external arches with inclined composite welded double-T sections of a constant height of 2.50 m. The launching operation, conducted using a strand jack system with a 200-ton pull force, involved a 70-meter forebeam.
