The Oxberg Bridge crosses the river Österdalälven in the Dalarna province and will replace an old combined bridge with two separate bridges, one for road traffic and one for rail traffic.
The stunning design of the Oxberg railway bridge comes from an architectural competition won by the companies Dissing+Weitling + COWI + Arkitema with their proposal “Kinetik”. The structure is made entirely of steel with no concrete superstructure. It will be assembled, welded and painted on the ground on the side of the railway axis, then it will be slided-in and launched-out in its final position.
